Reuse, corrections, speaking, and the other reasons people get in touch that are not a project.
Not every reason to make contact is an engagement. This page covers the ones that come up often enough to answer in advance.
Reusing a method or a chart
The methods here are written to be reused, and Research and Data are the two most often asked about. Attribution is appreciated rather than required. If you adapt a method and it fails in a way this site did not anticipate, that is worth reporting, because the limits documented here are only as good as the cases they have met.
Reporting an error
Corrections are welcome and are made in public rather than quietly. If a figure, a source, or a period is wrong, say which page and what you think it should be. The same applies to an accessibility barrier: Accessibility statement gives the conformance target and how to report a failure against it.
Asking about the data behind the site
The knowledge graph is published as machine-readable artifacts, so a question about how something is classified can usually be answered by reading them. Governance describes what is recorded and what is deliberately not.
Teaching, speaking, and reviewing
The practice will discuss workshops, guest sessions, and peer review of public-interest research, subject to time. It does not provide expert testimony, legal or regulatory advice, or endorsement of a product.
Anything not listed
Send it. A short description of what you want and by when is enough to get a straight answer, including a no. Use the contact page.
