What helps in a first message
- The decision or question the work would feed, even loosely worded
- Who inside the organization would use the result
- What already exists: data, prior reports, an evaluation, a system
- Any fixed date the work has to land before
- Constraints you already know about, including budget range
A paragraph is enough. None of this is required to get a reply.
What happens next

We reply within three working days
A short answer either way. If the work requires expertise or capacity rhizae does not currently hold, that will be stated early.

A conversation of about an hour
We discuss the decision, intended users, existing evidence, constraints, and what a useful pilot could test.

A written scope
The proposed method, outputs, timeline, price, responsibilities, limitations, and ownership of the resulting work.

You decide with something concrete
The scope stands on its own. Choosing another provider or a specialist collaborator is a legitimate outcome.
Before you write
rhizae does not take work whose conclusion is fixed in advance or collect more about people than the question needs. The practice also does not currently lead high-stakes causal evaluations, legal advice, or specialist work beyond its demonstrated capacity.
What we do with it
An inquiry is used to answer the inquiry. It does not go onto a mailing list, and there is no mailing list to go onto. If a conversation does not lead to work, we delete what you sent us.
