rhizae takes a small number of engagements at a time and scopes each one to a decision someone has to make. This page describes what that involves before you make contact.

Work is scoped to a decision, not a deliverable

An engagement starts by naming what has to be understood, who will use the result, and which decision it supports. Methods and deliverables follow from that, in the sequence Approach sets out. A request for a dashboard often turns out to be a question about which recurring decision the dashboard serves.

Capability is stated by tier

The practice separates what it has delivered from what it is still developing, and the capability list is grouped that way rather than presented evenly. Software and product development, reporting and decision systems, and technical research are established. Applied research, policy research, program measurement, data strategy, and evidence communication are developing, and are currently taken on as focused pilot projects.

One accountable lead, with specialists named in advance

Rich Nguon is accountable for accepted work from scoping through handover. Where a project needs expertise the practice does not hold, that limit is stated and a collaborator is named before work begins, with data access documented. About the practice describes the arrangement.

What the practice declines

Several large engagements at once, high-stakes causal evaluation, legal or regulatory advice, and specialist statistical work outside demonstrated capability. Potential pilot partners sets out the fit in more detail, including the cases where the answer is no.

What to send
